I have been reading about Kirkland wine brands, and since their 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape just launched, I ran to my local Costco to see if they had any, and I was in luck.
Can a CDP for less than $20 be any good???
Well, the answer is yes. Not only is it good, but I’ll be buying more. Based on the cork, this wine was made by Guillaume Gonnet, which is well rated and definitely more expensive.On the nose: Dark Cherry, Oak, Vanilla
On the palette: Notes of black and red fruit, earthy (dried leaves), rose petals, chocolate, and dried fruit. 15% alcohol, mid-minus acidity. Smooth with a nice finish and a dark garnett color. It would be even better with a year or two of aging in the bottle.
At a great value, easily drinkable and would pair well with many different meals, I gave this French beauty a score of 4.1 / 89!
